Yesterday we went and visited the Sope Creek Paper Mill Ruins which are located on state or federal park along the Chattahoochie River. I wanted to try out some photos with my new camera, but I knew nothing about the ruins before going there. It’s mostly overgrown now, and all that remain are foundations of large wall sections of two buildings.
When I returned home, I read that it was built in 1855 and was used to print Confederate currency. Because of that, it was targeted by Union forces and presumably taken and/or destroyed by them.
