Very succinct reporting but little in the way of useful information.  We train soldiers to use what we call the SALT format for reporting, it stands for:S - Size of enemy unitA - Activity of enemy unitL - Location, generally 10-digit military grid coordinatesT - Time of activity/report

To the best of my knowledge, a similar reporting requirement dates back to the Civil War.  It represents the minimum information necessary for a commander to make a decision.
