Some of you here know I run another web site about the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. I think it's one of the top inauguration sites on the web in terms of what I provide, and basically consists of information on many of the various galas and other events associated with the Inauguration. I've had the site since 2004, and while I can't say I'm an Obama supporter this year, I look at the event as a civic celebration. So it feels good when I get news sites or Congressional offices linking to my site, bringing me more traffic. Then again, sometimes you have places like this Washington Post blog simply cutting and pasting my material onto their site (this page has four events that were lifted directly off my site). I suppose I don't mind too much that they did it (a link back might be nice) but if I had messed up on some information originally (like the price of tickets to events), then that misinformation would now be disseminated on a large scale to Washington Post readers.
My Inauguration site has been attracting over 15k visitors/day for certain days over the past week, and there was even a link to my site on the UK Guardian story, “Climate change policies failing, Nasa scientist warns Obama” (the link is in the second paragraph, where the word “inauguration” is highlighted). I recall in 2005 that the most visitors I had in a day was around 7k, which was on Inauguration Day. Today alone I should break over 15k since I've noticed over 500 visitors on the site at any one time for much of the day. I expect the visitor numbers to peak even higher tomorrow.Donnie, I'm going to set up a link to your site on the "Commander-in-Chief" Ball page, which is one of the most popular pages on the site.

Much obliged there Phid. I hope Obama's inauguration doesn't have any problems and goes smoothly. I may not have voted for him, but I am concerned that such a momentous event will attract terrorists or suicidal idiots. I hear 42,500 police officers from around the nation will be used to patrol Washington. I hope that's enough.

Wait, did you want me to put the banner up for GA or one of your other sites? I noticed that the last auction for GA expired in December, so I wonder what's going on....if you want me to link to RT or another site, let me know.

This is the reason why I wouldn't try to do a website like PA. It could attract shady individuals trying to make a one time lick. But I guess you would run that kind of risk with any service oriented website.
Yeah, I don't know what the problem would be with attracting shady individuals, since about any site might attract them. But I was able to make a simple ad on the following page:http://www.presidential-inauguration.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=32You'll have to tell me how many visits you get through your tracking log. That particular page shows over 47k hits since it was published (around late October). Hopefully it will get a lot more tomorrow and some will come your way.
I peaked at the count around 1 p.m. while at work, and the most I saw on at that time was 1364 visitors. Right now there are 700+ visitors on the site….I'm interested in knowing how many of these clicked on Donnie's ad.Anyway, is it not working for you? It's working on my end.
