I was reading a story about an animal activist RC helicopter shot down by some people, and I saw this in the comments:
The shooter could have been working with the activists in order to discredit the hunters.Liberals are quite adept at using agent provocateurs to portray themselves as victims.
That phrase - "agent provocateur" - is one I hadn't bothered to look up in the past, so I decided to do so. Here is the dictionary.com definition:
a secret agent hired to incite suspected persons to some illegal action, outbreak, etc., that will make them liable to punishment.
So, I'm guessing that this phrase was used incorrectly in the comments I quoted above?
In the context in which the word/phrase was used he seems to be implying that liberals had someone shoot their own drone down in order to make the people conducting the hunt look bad or make it look like the people they were protesting did it. I think you are correct and it was used incorrectly. I can't think of the right word to describe what the commenter is implying right now. It is some type of black propaganda action he is describing.
