Does anyone remember seeing the History Channel series years ago, Reilly:Ace of Spies?Apparently Sidney Reilly(born Sigmund Rosenblum ) was a double agent during the Russian turmoil during and after WW!. He came very close to being the ruler of Russia. The James Bond character was loosely based on his exploitsHe was probably executed by the KGB but I don't know for sure.
Who was he spying for? The Czar?
Never heard of the series.
Reilly spied for the British during WW1 and later for both the British and Russians as a double agent. He actually sat in on German cabinet meetngs in WW1Here is a link on himhttp://www.crimelibrary.com/terrorists_spies/spies/sydney_reilly/index.htmlApparently he was lured back to Russia in Nov. 1925 and killed by Lenin's secret police. The details of his death are rather vague.
