Just saw that Ted Kennedy was knighted for his role in the Northern Ireland peace process in the 1990s. Some people were none-too-pleased because of his claimed support for the IRA.MPs' fury as U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy gets honorary knighthood for Northern Ireland role
This is what I don't get. The US did very little in the peace process. The only role the Clinton administration played was as a middle man. George Mitchell as well is touted for his work in the NI peace process. I ask, what did he do, as well as Kennedy, that was so special? In just looking at the Belfast Agreement it is clear the main players were Gerry Adams and Tony Blair and their envoys. The US didn't call the meetings and negotiations, they did.I don't blame Kennedy for siding with the Irish Republicans. He is Catholic after all. And not all IRA members were terrorists either. I think this is something that Britain in general needs to wake up to.
He sides with the effing IRA and sh*ts on the NRA… typical Dem, eh?
And isn't it ironic that Mitchell (D) authored the treaty for disarmament?
