I think #9 is interesting. It had never occurred to me that the Mercator projection is inherently “colonial”.

Yes, welcome Renegade.I was impressed by the Chinese globe from 1623. It looks fairly accurate in terms of distance, esp. between Africa and India and Southeast Asia.
