Yes, I saw that part of the article. Quite interesting. I wonder if it was because it created a much larger scandal for Germany to have started the war since it was a betrayal to the rest of the West, a nation whose citizens shared our history, customs, religions, and philosophies. Since we don't understand the East as much, the scandal was not so large for Japan to have been aggressive.The pain is much deeper when we are betrayed by one of our own than when we are betrayed by a stranger.
