Well, isn't it slightly ironic – didn't the first Vandals roam through central Italy some 1600 years ago? Now we have these vandals of the newer type.Vandals apparently topple Pompeii columnSad that there are people who do this, but I imagine that many columns on the ground in the first place and had to be restored anyway. World War II destroyed many of the Roman ruins. The Nazis setup positions near them thinking the Allies would avoid bombing so close to cherished landmarks. They were of course wrong. 😮
