The photos of the missing student with longer hair look very similar.Listening to the news this morning, one suspect dead and one MIT police officer shot and killed in Watertown, MA. Carjacking by the suspects with explosives thown out of the car. Happened around 10pm last night. Need to find out exactly were this occured as I drove through that city on my way home from the boat club last night around 8. Time to apply for that concealed carry.
CNN is reporting that one suspect has now been killed in a shootout and the other they are still looking for. Apparently they are both Chechen's. Isn't the Chechen insurgency an Islamic insurgency against Russian rule? I seem to remember that but since it is Russia I have not paid much attention to the conflict.
Not the Brown student. Very likely a Russian Islamist.Just read they detonated a pipe bomb near Commonwealth Ave. (not sure if they meant controlled detonation)All Boston public schools and universities are closed and public transit is shutdown. This is the best link I found so far. They are updating it regularly if you want to follow. Look at the photos of the SWAT team in the backyard.
If I look at photos of a SWAT team I generally giggle. If we had stacked on a door like they usually show SWAT teams doing on the news I would be dead many times over.
Yeah, that shed they are laying on doesn't look like it would offer much protection from a suicide bomb. That neighborhood must be freaking out. Just read that police stopped a car with two Russian nationals and Mass plates at Niagra FallsLinkWas Boston the go signal for the terrorist cells?
Last night I was following Twitter and the reports were that the suspects were Sunil Tripathi and someone named Mike Mulugeta. Totally different story today.
I saw that too. It was all over Facebook as well.Another link to follow. Updated regularly, better than the other one I gave earlier. Probably will take some time getting on the site though. I imagine everyone in the country is following it.http://live.boston.com/Event/Live_blog_Explosion_in_Copley_Square
So who was the guy who was face down on the pavement last night, surrounded by cops? They kept making it sound like that was one of the suspects. Also, did anyone else watch the FBI press conference yesterday? When he took questions, some "reporter" asked a question that the FBI agent ignored. After it ended, I think it was that same "reporter" that started making a spiel as the cameras gathered around him. Eventually, he got into a small yelling match with someone else in the room. Who the heck was that guy, and what was he saying?
That guy on the ground looked very much alive, and from what I could see (granted the cameras were at a distance) did not look to be wounded (at least, not severely). I heard reports that maybe he was run over by his brother, or that he may blown himself up. Yet, that did not look like the man on the ground. Unless I am missing something.
They say it is. I'm only going by reports. He was run over. No bomb on him, but he had a detonator.South Station on lockdown (biggest transportation hub in Boston)
WBZ-TV released video of a man laid out on a street in Watertown overnight, with his arms spread out over his head on the ground as police surrounded him.The man was then apparently ordered to remove his clothes or had his clothes removed before he was handcuffed and put in the back of a police cruiser.Watch the video:There’s no official word yet on who this man is or why he was taken into custody. It was later revealed that the man is not believed to be involved in the incidents.
