That is kind of interesting when you think about it. So many battles fought on British soil, nowadays built over, or mostly forgotten by all except for a monument which might stand as a permanent testimony to the event. It must convey a feeling that we don't really get in the States as much.
That happens in the US too. The Resaca de la Palma Battlefield in Brownsville, TX is underneath a Wal-Mart Parking lot. There are probably also plenty of minor Civil War battlefields that have been subsequently developed.
