Some guy emailed me today out of the blue and offered to buy my site, Great-Awakening.com. I am kind of curious as to how much he would offer, and my initial thought was he'd suggest something like $50-$100. But then I ran it through a web-site “valuator”, and this is what it came out to:

Ok! Heck, if he'd offer me anything in that ballpark I'd sell right away. I also decided to check to see how much some of my other sites are valued:

italianrenaissance.org - ok, well the site is only a few years old

presidential-inauguration.com - this is actually less than what I would hope for from this site

sweetest-day.com - doesn't make sense...a mindless site valued more than my Renaissance site, where there's actual hard work and scholarship put into it?And lastly, I just had to check one more price....

WCF - ok, ok, not too shabby, even though the amount of human capital put into this site exceeds the networth of Apple or Facebook, no doubt... ;D
I don't know how much faith I would put in those valuations. The same site says: B&BR is worth 2.9KValue Site says B&BR is worth $8.95Freewebsitereport says B&BR is worth $220Smart Viper says B&BR is worth $8,292Those valuations are garbage and the name is actually only worth what someone is willing to pay to get it.
Yeah, that's true. A site's value can be determined by demand, by potential demand or by revenue streams. I'm not sure how much money I make off Great-Awakening.com per year, but it's probably in the neighborhood of $150-$200. The site is passive and doesn't really require me to do anything, so it's not like I invest much labor into it. It's also valuable to me because it gets a decent number of visitors and reputable sites link to it (high schools, colleges, history sites). If I were to put a minimum selling price on Great-Awakening.com, it would probably be around $500.
I had an offer on my simplesurvival site of $2000, but that was from the guy that owns simplesurvival.com and several other top level domains for simplesurvival. I turned him down.
You mean this guy in the fox-skin hat? http://www.simplesurvival.net/about_us.htmI didn't know you had a site call Simple Survival, but i just found it now: http://www.simplesurvival.us/That's a nice chunk of change the guy offered. I would probably have taken it, but that's just me. 😉 Unless the guy wanted the content, and not just the domain name, you could have set up shop at some other location, right?
I think that is the guy.I have that site for about 6 month's, it is the tie-in to my book. I have not been very good about updating lately though. I am doing another MA with my GI Bill right now and hardly paying attention to the news.
