I have watched the past few seasons of Vikings (History Channel) and it's got an interesting story and a rather novel setting. I'm sure if you look closely enough, you'll find historical inaccuracies as far as the architecture/living conditions are concerned. This site has some good tidbits on the types of longhouses used by the Vikings, including interior components: Longhouses in the Viking Age
I just got done watching first season, it is a great show. I really like that it tells a good story without naked people prancing around all the time or being super explicit with the violence.
Is that a nudge-nudge-wink-wink reference to Game of Thrones?

No spoilers please. I just started watching it.

Yes, yes it is. While I think Game of Thrones is a great show and have read all the books, I also think they overdo the nudity, sex, and violence. If it serves the story that is fine but much of the nudity seems gratuitous to me. There ain't even that much nudity in the books and there is hardly any sex in the books.
Yeah, that's kind of why I'm likely to not watch it. It actually annoys me that TV studios feel the need to insert irrelevant/gratuitous scenes, especially when a show works well already with just its story. I like post-apocalyptic movies shows and so I gave the sci-fi series Defiancea try a couple of months ago. Surprisingly, the storyline was only mediocre and I wondered whether I should continue with it, until a lesbian scene sealed it for me and I stopped watching altogether. Lame.
