I live in south Ga, between two big Indian mound sites, I have never heard who built them, where did they go? were they assimilated into the creek or Cherokee tribes? I just thought I would ask someone smarter than me
Most likely they were the Mississippian Culture. But don't hold me to it. I'd have to research it to be sure.
I think you are right, Donnie. I have visited Kolomoki Mounds near Blakely Ga and Ocmulgee Mounds near Macon several times. Also near Eatonton Ga is Rock Eagle Park. There is a huge eagle made of stones laid out on the ground that can only be seen in total from a tower above the rocks. I wonder how they visualized the design from ground level?

Reminds me of the medicine wheels in wyoming and Montana.
StumpfootPlease tell me more about the Medicine Wheels in Wyoming and Montana. Where are they located? I travel to that area almost every summer and would like to see them
If you have an atlas its right under the Montana border on highway 114/alt14 between Lovell and Sheridan not to far south of Custers last stand. We are going to see it this August. I have one of those big Rand McNally atlas's and it shows the NHS on the map in Wyo.Check out this link for pics and info:http://www.uwsp.edu/geo/projects/geoweb/participants/dutch/VTrips/MedWheel.HTM
ThanksI will check it out. Maybe get to see it this year.Bob
