Why the World Needs America.  Outstanding analysis piece by Robert Kagan about the present world order and the dangers of American Decline.  What is amazing to me is the degree of equanimity expressed by both Democrats and Republicans about the proposed declines in Defense.  It is as if they really do think that if we voluntarily give up dominance in military strength that the rest of the world will go along with keeping the present world order the way it is.  Do they really not see the way America is hated in much of the world because of our policies and that were American power to decline we would be an even bigger target, and easier to strike, than we are now? I just wonder if America is going to have an Adrianople or simply fade away like the British Empire?
