+1. Events like this and the cartoon brouhaha from a few years ago highlight the difference between the Western and Muslim worlds.
I do agree and my intention isn't to target Christian's religion only but more about how far a religion can interfere with politics and limitation of powers
According to other sources based on Plutarch(?), the Parthenon was built between 447 BC and 432 BC whilst others claim that its construction was completed in 438 BC, although decorations of the Parthenon continued until 431 BC.
An exception to this might be the Elgin Marbles, which were taken from Greece around 1801. Greece still wants these back from the British Museum on account that they were wrongfully removed from the Parthenon by Lord Elgin. I suspect that if they are returned, this will be done more as an attempt to be cooperative with public sentiment than with international law.
Looted or collected ?Saved or removed?Keep or return ?TMHO A kind of never-ending debate for sure but whenever both sides are open-minded enough, a gentleman-agreement is always possible. Just like other sensitive matters, a kind of unwarranted nationalism (regarding the issue) might be the main and lone problem
Since native american obviously traveled the furthest what would make you think they would stop here. I think they settled north and south america then on to europe asia and then finially stopped.
So, that's interesting ! I don't about you but whenever a document is displayed in colours, it seems so close of today. Most of time documents are displayed in B/W as if it came from another era or another world ... Original materials such as your document must be used only (talking about my courses)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLF9y56qXJY
In our quest for more we are destroying the reason more exists...I signed a petition to help stop it. We still have plenty of land that we don't need to be infringing on our history. And if we run short of land, we need to look at our priorities.
About the fall of French http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-11086381 Concerning how some new languages appeared, I can tell you a little about French language :As you already know French originates from Latin but not just the "standard or classical" Latin but primarily from Vulgar Latin : Latin spoken mainly by the uneducated and therefore illiterate populations governed by the Romans. In addition this language has some Gaulish or Celtic words still used today but the other major contribution to French is ... German ! By German, it's more about the Old Frankish language spoken by the Franks at the time of the Germanic invasions, i.e. Clovis and Charlemagne. This makes French the most "germanised" of the Romance languages. (Which seems to irritate many French ppl ;D)Currently, many words of English origins are part of the language. It's evolving slowly but surely.
That wouldn't surprise me. I was always curious at that spiral art symbol (forgot the name of it. Phid?) that is found in Egypt, Greece, Ireland, and Mesoamerica. And I do think that the Greeks travelling is a more feasible theory than aliens. 😀
Another influence would be Culture, not only knowledge and philosophy but arts as well : architecture, sculpture, pottery, even religion (Rome just took it all) and politics (city-state system, republican democracy and citizenship, etc…)I believe that Western Civilisation roots are more related with Ancient Greece (through Rome's heritage). Hence the exact importance of Egypt about Greece
The ultimate God mode: ... players do not stay in one place, but will go on a quest to go to the Promised Land. Players will lead Abraham?s tribe from Ur to Haran and finally to Canaan...http://thebible-onlinegame.com/
Very interesting indeed, when you consider how important is the Egyptian Heritage for the West, it seems that the Greek civilisation was the most influenced (Kouros sculptures, prestige of the rulers). However what makes the difference between those important civilisations of the past is that Egypt didn't set a kind of global empire : everything happened in a limited area whereas Greece , Rome, Persia did spread over more significant areas therefore a much greater influence over different nations. (to be developed)
