ParticipantI support you, he wasn't really that important in the whole picture of history. You can say that about a lot of people.France faced exhaustion after years of rising taxes and revolts. In 1642, Cardinal Richelieu died and Louis XIII followed him. Louis XIV came in at age 5. An Austrian queen mother (Anne of Austria) served as his regent along with an Italian cardinal, Mazarin(the answer). French politics once again moved into a period of instability, rumor, and crisis.

ParticipantI have not heard of him going back to Corsica, but indeed Elba. Although exiled, many say he was considered the “king” of the island ~30 miles east of Corsica.

ParticipantWell Finally have my internet up and running at the house. Now no more running around to friends and neighbors begging for some internet time. Much better! As for the house its coming along I did tile for the first time, I was suprised how easy it was. Carpet in a couple weeks some interior doors and moulding and the beast will be finished. I will try and upload some pics later.
I'm glad tiling came easy for you. Make sure you seal the grout well. 😉Welcome back!

ParticipantThe answer I was thinking of is France. It seems obvious, I know. I wanted to see if anyone would come up with another answer. Like stated above, this question can be arguable. Therefore, I'll make up another one within the next few days. Hopefully it will be more challenging (is anything challenging for you guys? :P).

ParticipantAre we talking about the Huegonots?
Yes. I thought it was the Siege of La Rochelle but different sources tell me the death toll was only 7,000.
