Every time the Union tried to cross into Virginia they found it difficult to navigate the Virginia river system because they rendered their forces vulnerable. This is probably the reason McClellan opted to invade via the Peninsula where he could better manage the logistics.
ok, if we had use hit and run, or less man on man tatics would the south won or still lost?
The South did use hit and run tactics. Quantrell and Hunt Morgan are prime examples of irregular forces used to harass and interdict from behind enemy lines. They were not very effective in the greater outcome of the war so the South would still have lost if they employed more guerrilla tactics. Southern culture though, made it very difficult to fight in such a way because of the perception of fighting dirty without honor.
I won't go as far as calling Sherman a “hero” but he did what he had to do to expedite the end of the war. He wasn't a war criminal either. Just a guy who knew what had to be done and was willing to be the one to do it.

Well I don't think our official mission is regime change, but you know that's where it's going. Still, Gaddafi hadn't caused us any trouble for the last 20 years after Reagan put him in his place. He was even on board with the War on Terror (well he said he was). Libya had been pretty much a stable nation since he came to power too. I'm not a Gaddafi apologist by any stretch, but Libya is in a civil war now. Since half the nation still seems to support him, it's not unanimous who should rule Libya, and it's not our place to decide that. But I do hope Gaddafi fails in his bid to retain power.

Funny how the Chinese are clamoring for us to get out of Libya, but they could have stopped it with a veto in the Security Council. Too many games being played here.
Both the Chinese and the Russians abstained from the vote. To me, that means they should shut up, they had their chance to block intervention and did not use it.
Yep. They like to play this game with us. They really want us to go in and do the dirty work while they play the charade that they were against it from the beginning. They can't have it both ways, but as long as they stay out of our way, who cares?

I really don't think anything good can come of this. But we're in it now. Funny how the Chinese are clamoring for us to get out of Libya, but they could have stopped it with a veto in the Security Council. Too many games being played here.
Outstanding pics! I found myself longing to be alive then. I grow weary of our modern society with its complications and stress. Just give me a Tee Pee out on the Plains out in the middle of nowhere and I could go dancing with wolves. LOL
I saw this and shrugged my shoulders. I thought Atlantis was beyond the Pillars of Heracles (Gibraltar). I mean wouldn't the ancients know more about it than us?
The Orthodox sects are clamoring for a return to Temple worship. There are some considerations for a new temple to be built and protected under the U.N. with the Dome of the Rock. How this would work I don't know.
It is better to avoid software so that you can remember the formatting yourself. You will be teaching this stuff to students one day anyway, so better get used to it.
Yes, that is what they say. But really, we all know that in the future, it will be computers teaching students who use computers to write their papers. As the students rely more and more on their computers, the computers will effectively become the students. So in the end, it will be computers teaching computers. 😉
