ParticipantMore Pope news on Drudge now. He wants the church to quit obsessing over gays and abortion now. He wants balance. Is he trying to compromise too much?
DonaldBaker
ParticipantIs he a New Age Pope?

ParticipantMakes sense to me however the tenured professors have greater knowledge, and studying under them is a plus on the academic resume.

ParticipantThank you. I had one of my machine adjusters quit on me last night. He's going to Toyota. I was already short-handed. It takes a while to train a machine adjuster. It's a skilled trade position. 🙁

ParticipantI haven't gotten a pay raise yet. I've been given 30 days to prove myself, and then afterward I'll get a raise and switch to salary. We've just been bought by a rival company so there is a chance they may close the plant down since they have one in Indianapolis that might be able to absorb our orders and equipment.

ParticipantPhid I don't know if I'm going to have time. I've been promoted to production supervisor at my job and moved to third shift. We'll see.

ParticipantDoesn't a declaration of Martial Law require congressional assent after a given period of time? (I am not sure how long, I think 90 days) If I remember right it is in the War Powers Act, which every president since it's passage has held to be unconstitutional by the way.
It's all been changed now. FEMA takes over via the continuity of government and the president will remain in office until FEMA relinquishes control and stands down. This could last as long as the FEMA director feels is necessary.

ParticipantAs it stands now, the president can declare martial law and suspend the constitution which will allow him to remain president indefinitely.

ParticipantChaos is what is happening in Egypt and it will spread like a cancer. Syria and Egypt are both going to cause that region to blow up in a major regional war.

ParticipantI would suggest keeping it limited to the Power 5 conferences (SEC, Pac 12, B1G, ACC, Big XII), and top 25 teams from non power conferences like Louisville (preseason top ten). You can pick the games of the week if you want from each conference so we don't get overwhelmed with 60 games every week.

ParticipantThis is shameful. Let the woman rest in peace and let Da Vinci's image of her forever be immortalized.

ParticipantTouched a nerve did we Phid? I used to do that all the time and destroyed entire message boards in the process. 🙂

ParticipantTell me - why do you include those books on South Carolina in there? Is it simply out of personal interest?
Out of personal interest yes, but South Carolina was a very important colony because of the slave trade. No colonial study should be without an intensive look at the origins of the slave culture that came to dominate the South, and that begins and ends in South Carolina.

ParticipantI voted for the Spanish Armada. The rise of Britain as a global power ushered in the Industrial Revolution. All of the events were very important and I can see why they were listed.
