ParticipantDon't get your hopes up on Sarah. She only has so much pull. At the end of the day, if she wants a place at the GOP table, she will have to reconcile with the establishment or else they will isolate her and move on.

ParticipantWCF is moving along at a nice cruise speed. I suspect in another five years, it will be humming in the fast lane. Are you ready?
LOL....I'll admit that we didn't grow quite as I expected during the first five years. Still, we're at quality over quantity. There are some people who I wish would come back, like Stumpfoot and even cadremum. But over the next five years I'd really hope for more exponential growth, rather than straight line growth. 🙂
That will require some advertising dollars and social networking. But I know you can do it. 🙂

ParticipantI could easily have 10,000 posts if I spent all my time here, but I do spend quite a bit of time on other boards besides my own.

ParticipantYea, debate is ok, as long as it remains civil. Debates that descend into name calling and ad hominem attacks are fairly pointless in my opinion.
To my knowledge, I don't think we've ever had a problem with ad hominem attacks here at WCF. This board has always attracted class act folks who usually know a thing or two about History. We have had some "unique" posters who hold unconventional views, but that's okay so long as they can support their claims to a reasonable degree. I've probably popped off some sarcastic remarks myself, but I don't think I've ever crossed the line or Phid would have scolded me if I had. That's why this board rocks the way it does. 🙂

ParticipantCheck the box class... It gets better than that... it goes from pre-history all the way to French Revolution. The instructor spends most time perparing you to write history papers than actually dicussing history.Egypt, Greece, Rome and Middle Ages seem to be the areas he focuses on, everything else get's whitewashed over and we are told to "read the book".In defense I will say that the classes are well suited for working adults. Being that the campus is in the education center here on base, we also have a significant amount of military students and spouses. But yeah, it is a lot... you should have seen how we skimmed through both my US History classes!
Actually learning to write papers should be the central focus as you can always learn the history in research. 🙂

ParticipantI think freedom of expression is more important in this case though I utterly detest what they are doing. Of course this can be fixed by saying the flag is federal property (like your mailbox). Then it would be a crime to damage federal property.

ParticipantPlease refrain from using website sources if you can. Books is where it's at so I'm told.
