ParticipantWell ... I tried to delete 2 of my posts myself. However it's impossible to delete it completely whilst it's still possible for the board to delete or move your blogs "selon leur bon plaisir"...
You have to be a moderator or higher to do it.

ParticipantGrant's accomplishments are greater than those of Regan. It's far more likely that communism would have imploded without Regan than the North would have won the Civil War--preserving the Union--without Grant.Grant doesn't merit having his portrait on the $50.00 bill for the the accomplishments of his presidency, but he does for his role as a general in the Civil War. One need not have been president to merit having his portrait on US currency, as witness Franklin and Hamilton.
Yeah but Ronnie was a better actor by far! So there! 🙂

ParticipantI believe Noah cannibalized the ark afterward to build homes for his family and other structures for the animals. He almost had to didn't he? But the impression that the ark made on Mt. Ararat might still be there, and it might not. It's not really that important to me, but if it is still there, it would really shake the world to its foundations…especially the evolutionists and atheists.

ParticipantThese are my concerns as well. I'm not sexist by any stretch of the imagination, but women trying to be warriors is like men trying to be mothers. Both can do it, but not to the level of success that the role requires. I don't care if women serve, but I simply believe that there are some combat roles that women just are not suited for because of their lack of upper body strength, stamina, and durability. Furthermore, the horrors of combat affect men bad enough, but females are even more emotionally compromised in such settings.

ParticipantI've never been a big fan of women serving in the military, but the Israelis have changed my opinion on the matter. There are many roles that women can excel at in the armed services, and because of this, they should serve.

ParticipantSo are military women nothing more than “assets” to you guys? LOL

ParticipantThis afternoon I successfully got through with my oral review of my Masters thesis. Now it's on to my second draft, incorporating the points addressed by my committee. I am thankful for having gotten through this and hopefully I will be able to tie my thesis together in a nicer package with my future revisions.
Keep on trucking young fella!

ParticipantHi Jessica, you need to start your research with Cesar Chavez. He formed the first farm workers union and was a civil rights activist for Latinos. Go to his wikipedia page here and start looking for terms associated with his movement and then go to your library for real sources associated with him and his associates.

ParticipantI'm wondering, since this thread's last post, has anyone changed their views any on the nature and structure of academic History writing? Has anyone run into any of the issues that have been brought up here? Has a professor scolded you for straying off topic, writing too fancifully, or foisting personal bias? Just curious because I think this is one of the most important threads posted on WCF. We all have to come to terms with the best way to present the historical narrative, and the more we can help each other to do that, the more productive our experience in the field will be.

ParticipantWhat was the extent of the political or economic relationship between Israel and Ethiopian Sheba? Normally we do not think of Ethiopia as being within Western Civilization, but contact between these places suggests that there was historically some understanding between Africa (beyond communities on the Mediterranean) and the Near East.
They became allies during Solomon's reign. Solomon and the Queen of Sheba were very close friends (some have suggested they were even lovers). Solomon wielded strong influence in the region because of the work his father did in solidifying the kingdom through war.

ParticipantKing David, King Solomon, King Rehoboam... the last saw the kingdom of Israel break apart under his reign...
My finger is thicker than my father's waist. (That's why the tribes walked out on Rehoboam).
