I think the German Panzer and Tiger tanks were the best, but the T-34 was comparable. The Sherman tanks were arguably the least effective, but they got the job done. It all depends on what standards one uses, and actual performance in the field.

Recent American History basically encapsulates the post World War II era (the beginning of the atomic age). Reagan, Nixon, Kennedy all would work IMHO.

It's very simple. Liberals are elitists who think the average American citizen is part of the mindless "mob" as you say, and believe them too stupid to govern. Conservatives, on the other hand, see the average American citizen as "We The People" and angle their ideology toward preserving the rights and power of the people. I trust the American people with their money, their vote, and their vision for the American dream. I don't trust the government with our money, our votes, and our vision for the American dream. See the difference?
Carry it one step further--if the people decide to create a European Welfare State based on socialistic economics and democratic politics then according to you we should trust them even if they constitute only 51 percent of those approving. Is not democracy defined by some as majority rule?
Yes we should trust them. Common sense will prevail at the end of the day. Obama and his Deathcare is just a fad, something that will pass into the night once everyone realizes they have been hoodwinked by a demagogue. In the meantime, it is good that the people experience their mistake first hand, so they won't be so quick to make the same mistake again.

I agree it's not much to go on, but again, I don't think even Hitler would have broadcast his ultimate intentions until he reached the pinnacle of power, and even then, only to those close to him who could protect him from all accountability. He was a coward under all that power, and this only proves it. However, I did provide some evidence, and if my intuition holds true, more will eventually surface. Time is on my side on this.
Is it just me, or does it look like this will have to be restored to Hitler and the Jews in WWII?
