ParticipantFor every person who gets it right there will be ten who will think He got it wrong.
I think someone drilled a tiny hole in your water glass - everytime you raise it drink, it will run down your chin. 🙂

ParticipantKind of says it all, does it not? But that was a character – Newman was much more, more than most of us can ever hope to be. RIP.

ParticipantThanks Wally, but when I view other possibillities, I seem to see female angels, with white wings, pulsating softly in the in Autumn summer, waiting for cooler weather … which will come soon …..

ParticipantFor the years discussed about saving costs associated with standards ….. let the penny stamper grunt with ease ….

ParticipantI found out this morning from another lost UPS shipment ( I got vacuum bags in a box marked “1 of 2”, but the vacuum is missing …. from Sears. Anyhow, the driver this morning apologized and said that some other driver had left my gun leather at space 3 (I live on space 47). Inspite of traces, I learned this from the regular driver, not UPS. Can you say cover up their sorry &%$? So, here I am with vacuum bags, and no vacuum .... something is seriously wrong with our infrastructure. Phone calls to Sears and UPS produced conflicting statements. Nobody wants to admit they screwed up; they won't even talk to you.And this is a huge problem in this country - children are raised to believe they can lie their way out of anything difficult, even their own inadequate performance. And so customer service suffers .... 🙁I just want to yell at someone ...... >:(

ParticipantWell, sir, I almost give up … but what is the point of any story, if not to teach us how our forefathers goofed. So, what is wrong with pieces like Herbert's “Dune”? as an educational study of our past and probable future? Rah, rah! Let historical and science fiction be an important part of reading lists for our young pups, if only in hopes that one of them will get it right in the future.

ParticipantI don't think this argument holds up. Those of us with saving accounts don't depend on loose change to augment them. Mine, for instance, feature automatic transfers from income on a monthly basis. Those that hoard certain coins do not get interest, but prevent our use of them, and add to the deficit by not spending money created by our beloved uncle.Just my humble opinion. ;D

ParticipantUnforgiven was one of my favorites.Does The Outlaw Josey Wales count as a western? How about Lonsome Dove? For older movies: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, Hondo, The Man from Snowy River, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Magnificent Seven... and just for fun Red Sun with Charles Bronson and Toshiro Minfune
Now were talking westerns! The history is rich with good stuff. The Louis Amour stuff is just a beginning. His books are superior to any film made, in my opinion, as are the old James Bond stories by what his name? They don't write books like that any more. Flemming? I think that was his name. Marvelous word craft. Hard to find, today, sadly.
