Wow – I caught the third round today by accident (did not know it was on), but I do love golf! Good luck tomorrow – today? I will be watching, and I don't have any competition for the remote; as I live alone, I am a guaranteed hole in one! 🙂
Yes we need to take all views into account because all views are based in some positive truth more or less, however, we should not allow others to impose their cultural filters on us or shame us into backtracking just because we come from a culture that has been oppressive to other cultures. Historians aren't in the business of apologetics (though some think they are). Historians are fact finders and fact presenters. When facts are ambiguous or absent, then Historians can fill in the pieces with their best critical analysis, and nothing more.
A pompous approach to any view, this seems to me be.
We have HBO. We have Showtime. We have ESPN. My husband has the remote attached to him. He watches sports & I do homework. Lucky him. Personally, I'd like to view a special about Zachary Taylor...if I could get the remote.
Quote from the most recent episode:This, from the John Adams miniseries on HBO during an informal debate between John Admans and Thomas Jefferson. TJ: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots; it is a natural manure."I thought it a significant observerance on today's failure to do anything. Nobody cared to comment on the Star Wars network. Could it be our problem, too?
The reruns are numbing – best to leave programming to your cable service – the repeat episodes repeat – best to not check into local motels – they con't take Master Card. But. if you want to learn about John Adams, tune in. To HBO. Or by it later, what ever. I admit, it is too bad that most of the populace is unable to view HBO. Too bad. Costs too much money. The discussed film will be available soon for viewing. What ever it takes, it is worth it. Good luck with cable in you area. In case you were not aware, cable service in your area is too expensive. They can kill you at random. If you complain about lack of service. Scarey, huh? Yeah, they can kill you! Because they have a lot of money, and they are not interested in complaints; they just need to kill any fool that complains. This how cable companies maintain power and price over us and local politicians. Local politicians are for sale, to anyone. This why they got into politics – to take our money. Wake up, will you please? It is time to take over. If you have to ask what needs to be taken over, then, I guess you need to come to my class. And anyone is welcome, if you know how to kiss ass .... kicking ass should be reservered for those that need it. Kick ass can be directed accurately, which is demanded by our constipation. If you do not do what the constipatation says, you are a traitor.Take charge, and kick out the current government, or forever remain constipated.
I sir, would have to say, show me the money/history/proof. And make lemonaid. Will it ever matter if lemonade is brewed another way? What would Charley Varrick do?
Is it OK to change one's mind here? The pre-Medieval migration of the Germanic tribes is quite interesting too. As is the latter half of the 19th century.
As I tell my girl friends, change your panties as needed. But what is your favorite underwear? And why?
All I remember is volunteering for moving some things. I remember climbing into an old flat bed truck, which slithered down a dammed dangerous muddy drive, to a home on the coast. Linus Pauling was not there; we (the cheap labor) were told where to put what, and dismissed. But I remember an attractive housekeeper. From south of the border, I am sure.Upon reflection, the memory is amusing; cheap white men following the orders of a Mexican Seniorita! I did not mind it a bit. And we were not paid anything. Except the honor of delivering stuff to Linus Pauling. Whoopy do! This was circa 1977 - far too long ago for me to recite accuate details. I remember the location, the home, and the distain. Being a poor white bum at the time, it was interesting to see the Mexican ladie's attitude. Been there, done that, thank you. Class distinctions - from them free will we ever be?
The series is being dragged out, which I find frustrating. An excellent production is delayed with many reruns. And the first night was somehow mutilated by my cable recording machine. So, I still watch for a new episode, after weeks. Call me dissatisfied, but, if I pay top dollar for cable, why must I be subjected to such delays, and reruns? Reruns that clog my automatic recorder?
The Levant includes the Holy Land, Syria, and the Tigris-Euphrates river valley (i.e. The Fertile Crescent).
Ah, the fertile cresent, referred to later in song as the "fertile delta", referring to the junction of rivers, ... as sung by many local song writers. ...What, do you suppose, were these poets speaking of?
Never know, we will. Richard Nixon destroyed the equivalent – perhaps Jefferson (can't remember other references) and others had need to destroy their writings. Jefferson and Washington are ones I think (?) I heard destroyed their writing. Not sure here, I thought I heard their names, connected with – but John Adams and his wife were famous farmers, fighters, and revoltutionaries. It's a good thing; someone had to kick ass way back then, or we would be shit ass luckless.
