Grant's accomplishments are greater than those of Regan. It's far more likely that communism would have imploded without Regan than the North would have won the Civil War--preserving the Union--without Grant.Grant doesn't merit having his portrait on the $50.00 bill for the the accomplishments of his presidency, but he does for his role as a general in the Civil War. One need not have been president to merit having his portrait on US currency, as witness Franklin and Hamilton.
yeah and HAD Joseph E Johnston NOT been a wimp and had came from Jackson, MS, and trapped him between Pembertion and himself the war might have swong in a differnet way ahd if he lived he would have been a HUGE discrase so he does not realy need it. And the last time i check Nancy regan did not own slaves while Mrs. Grant did, and Ron did not let Willam T. Sherman RAPE AND PILLAGE the south, OH and Ron was NOT a racist
I would be full of rage if i was him too. Your President of the United States and suddenly your richest states leave the country. Then when war is started you loose everything in the east untill 1863 and then everything after that is not a picnick. Also your youngin dies while you are in office and your ugly wife is always depressed. Yeah i dont think i could have done that i might have “accadentaly” rode to far into confederate lines one day when i was inspecting the troops.
yeah i would be freaked out too if i was appointed comander of an army that has known nothing but defeet and then being drawn into a battle not yet adjusted to the task of comander
Whether they should have or not is irrelevant, they could not. The Union Army was exhausted after Gettysburg and in no shape to pursue the Rebs. If they had they would have been defeated because Lee would have had the advantage of the defense then and in addition would have been fighting troops who had not consolidated and reorganized after battle but went straight into pursuit, he also would have had to travel over territory stripped of supplies. he Union worked Miracles in supply but by and large neither sides logistic system was capable of supporting a war of movement for long. Mead made the right choice by declining to pursue Lee's army, he preserved his victory without endangering his command.
I agree with him Meade could not..but if he could I don't think that he would
I really don't think he should have had the rifle there in the first place. He could have made a home video and demonstrated it from his garage or something. He set himself up for this mishap.
Oh yes we students always pay atention to something on the tv when in class...he did it so the kids could see what they were like. I agree with what he did when I was in grade school I was a member of the SASS.The man that got me into it was a personal freind to the family and my history teacher (i was in a small town of about 800-1000). Well this school had trouble making the marks on state test so what he did for the class is he brought in certan wepons (that was okayed by the whole school board). but his guns were NEVER EVER EVER LOADED.The teacher should have gone through a gun safty course when he frist started reenacting lord knows I have for SASS and reenacting. This is totaly his fault and should get canned.
I agree with yall Davis did the correct thing. This past year I read all three of Newt Gingrich's American Civil War Series and in book two Grant Comes East Judah Benjamin the Secratry of State (i think it was him who said it) said roughly that the war was not between Lincoln's will and Davis' will but the will of Lincoln and the will of Lee. Lee was a great stratagest and even after Gettysburg he STILL gave Grant mess.
well i think that anyone would be better than grant…at least then my uncle will stop defacing federal property by wiritting linclons (insert name of a female dog in heat) on it
well i have five that tie 1. Robert Edward Lee2. Thomas J. Jackson aka stonewall3. Nethan B. Forrest4. John S. Mosbey AKA the grey ghost5. Patrick Cleiboron (sp) aka the stonewall of the west
