I would wager that Hess found his way to South America with the rest of the Nazi bigwigs. A lot of Nazis disappeared in Brazil, Paraguay, and other countries.
yeah most people belive that hitler also went to south america they say he escaped on an airplane to spain then got on the u-boat that was found after the war ended...but that is a interesting about hess
Nobody famous, just a bunch of ordinary soldiers. One fought with the Swamp Fox, One was a Capt in the militia fighting Indians in this area in early 1800's. Four served in CSA army(two wounded and one POW). One uncle was career USN and served on the USS Washington when they sunk the only battleship sunk in one on one combat in WW2.
i like yo u H.H. had a couple fight for the south...to me the one of yours that was a pow is a HERO every one hears about andersonvile but little people know about elmira and fort dixion... but as a reply to the topic my 14th great grandfather was the privateer Sir Frances Drake and his great grandson was one of the richest men in the county that edward teech lived in during his time on land
1864 - Confederate General John Bell Hood marched from Gadsen to Guntersville, Alabama in order to cross the Tennessee River. However, Hood had forgotten to retrieve his army's pontoon bridge from the Coosa River in eastern Alabama. He took the troops 50 miles out of their way and made a surprise attack on Tennessee unlikely. When Hood did move into Tennessee Union General William T. Sherman's force was ready and waiting. He forgot his bridge? ::)
i know this is late but it was the drugs he was on
lee's big problem was he was OLD SCHOOL!!!! and this war was a new type of war that he was not ready for…his second biggest was he thought he (and the army) was unable to loose…unfortunatly he had a few BIG defeets before one or two mediocre victories and a starving army so he had his hands full but to say he was overrated i say no he was and still is (and God forgive me for being a blasfemer) godlike to most of the south…well thoughs who know about him
to me it the most underrated gernal is General Frank Crawford Armstrong of well i will let you see why read the following bio. please http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Crawford_Armstrong (i know wikipedia is not that good of a source but all of it is true)
there was no new way the stayed down in the sub until a small candle burnt out, the candle was used like the caged birds were in mining shafts when ever the air went bad the candle died.
That's an interesting way of detecting oxygen loss. Probably not the best since it would mean a quick ascent to the surface which would be difficult when you're down many feet.
yeah do you know what most of the people are saying about her sinking
my least favorite Union is sherman because he destroied the south…least favorite southern is john bell hood beacause he sent four of my ancestors to their deaths and my favorite general Patrick Cleburne.
to me Jefferson Davis is a house hold name. I think that the man disserves to be honored… infact i believe he should have his own holiday. did he make some mistakes…yes but to err is human. the man did what he thought was right. the plain and simple fact is the south lost beacause the north had more men, more industries, and had some good luck in july of 1863 (LOL).
I don't understand enough of the physics of the Hunley sub operation. What was the normal way of bringing oxygen into the sub?
