This is not my field of interest but if people want to find out more information on this then they may want to look up Yigael Yadin who excataved the site in the 1960s: – I found this out on the Encarta Encylcopedia... "Excavated by the Israeli archaeologist Yigael Yadin from 1963 to 1965, Masada is both a popular tourist attraction and an Israeli national shrine. The site was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001."
anger towards nothing is the threat to peace…everyone takes things too seriously in this day and age…different people get offended for the least thing…recent example is this Danish Cartoon thing – how daft people have acted about it. It’s getting to the point whereby you have to think too much about offending other poeple of different faiths etc too much.
Interesting. Do you own them, or are you selling those? I suppose they don’t work anymore, do they? They are not mine - they belong to a local museum..they have an even larger collection of those domestic radios. I am just a member of the charity. They also do restorations too. I have lots of photos of other wartime artefacts too...such as telephones...things like skeleton and reliance telephones - those are pretty cool by the way! 🙂
......Wasn't the storyline of the WWII submarine movie - U-571 - changed from the British taking over the sub to the Americans? Yes, I suppose I would be annoyed if I were British. Also, I know that in the movie Master and Commander, the story was changed. The novel takes place around 1815 or so, and the British are battling with the Americans, but in the movie the story is set back to around 1805, and the Brits are instead battling the French. I haven't seen any of those movies...i refused to watch U-751 when i heard what had happened to the story - just put me off watching it completely!
usually in historical films – especially WW2 films the british war effort is minimalised and the Americans are doing most of it. Also, there always has to be some sort of love story to grasp the female viewers to watch the movie (as it is assumed that they are not interested in the historical facts). I liked Pear Harbor movie though I have to say...it was very sad ending 🙁 Has anyone seen the Pianist???? its about a Jewish Pianist who survives the holocaust - it seems more gritty...but again some parts are a bit farfetched if you know what I mean (I guess you can't avoid that). It was a true story though.
What do you consider the biggest threat to Western Civ? ............. What's your view? Well we over induldge on natural resources so in fact we could have made damage to the earth that we cannot do anything about - perhaps "A Day After Tomorrow" situation with the gulf stream ending (particularly if you live in the UK this is a bad thing)...so i think the biggest threat is ourselves eating away at the earth's natural resources. With the developing countires making this worse by polluting the skies heavily - agian they have no other viable option as they are just trying to survive one argues. If western civilisation cannot rely on oil, cars, electricity etc then it would be like living in the stone age again - people would probably act stupid.
Churchill wanted america in the war far sooner than they came in… Roosevelt turned America into isolationism in the 1920s – well before WW2..it was this thinking that kept america out of the war until they had no option. He wanted the Russians to sort out the Germans and Britian battling along to keep them from crossing the English channel. Britain was bombed to pieces remember – perhaps if america was there sooner then a lot of lives would have been saved.
