I posted a link on my Facebook page dedicated to the Civil War in Missouri, Kansas & Arkansas as well as only profile so the rest of my Civil War contacts on there have a link to it…
Awesome. There needs to be more articles like this to raise the awareness that a significant amount of events, many equally if not more critical than those in the east, took place in the Trans-Mississippi.I obviously have some bias towards Missouri & Kansas, but I think it is neglect for a Civil War historian or student to overlook this portion of the war. A detailed look at the events in the 1850's in this area gives a excellent foundation of WHY the war was fought. A detailed look at the events during the war in this area gives a excellent foundation of HOW the war was fought.A detailed look at the events after the war in this area gives a excellent foundation of the RESULTS of the war.Excellent piece.
Who really thinks a GOP Congress will stop Romney when he goes Left?
Both sides stink... There has to be a radical shift for any of this to right itself.. but I fear that since the two party system has more or less be the de facto standard for over 150 years of our existence I can't see that changing. Even those who fall outside of the two party system are no help because most of them are mad as hatters... They have some good ideas, but those are overshadowed by their insanity...Personally, and I really hate to say this, I think America is slowly going the way of the Roman Empire... it'll have a brief gasp of air and then will fade into oblivion. America is not mentioned at all in eschatology, so I suspect in the end we'll be just another country that has come and gone. I love this country... but it is rapidly morphing into an ugly monster....
We will be taxed for NOT doing something… that means inactivity is taxable… The biggest problem is the liberals cannot see the big deal with this... "everyone gets health care, who cares how" is pretty much their logic... missing that they have to pay for it AND pay for government control of it.. otherwise, they get fined.. wait... I'm sorry, they get taxed....How any reasonable person cannot see the total lunacy of this is beyond me...
I think there is still too much a divide on the Conservative side to give Romney the victory over Obama. While I really don't care for Romney, as Patrick said, I'll suck it up since I cannot vote for Obama. This win for them I think will pull them together as a rallying cry (Look what we did) and that along with the split in the GOP/Conservative arena will give Obama another 4 years... God help us.
I think that a lot of democratically-elected figures from history would never have gotten the chance to serve their countries if they lived our world today. We could make a list.
And that should say something about the modern day election mindset... Possibly started with Calvin Coolidge and perfected by FDR?
Is that guy in the bottom picture toting a Union Jack?
He is... he is marching in front of Old Abe Camp... I believe the guy next to him is toting a French flag... This was for support of WWI to get citizens to join up. Old Abe Camp is marching behind the fellow holding up their placard.
Oh I would love to have your pastor friend take over Tribulation Project if he were willing to.
I don't think he has enough hours in the day to commit to anything else. He only gives me an article now and then because he is so busy.... Very smart guy....
All good ideas… acting together can only help everyone involved. The problems with my main site is that it is very niche... strictly Missouri and Kansas in the Civil War... Very specific traffic... not sure it would help the readership at other sites. It might. Maybe if for nothing else than visibility...I also have started a new site called "Historical Christian" and have a pastor friend of mine who teaches, get this, Greek, and is about done with is doctorate in theology. We both love history as well as the historical aspects of Christianity... so that site might tie in with some of the others here...There needs to be a post here with URLs, descriptions, etc so that they can be added to everyone's site.
It is a world without God. There is no foundation for what is morally right and wrong.I could go on and on, but it boils down to as human beings we are not taking God out of the equation and setting the limits as to what is morally right and wrong and things this are prime examples of what happens when we try to play God.Rape, murder, incest, etc all will become OK because without a framework what is morally wrong to one is not morally wrong to another.Disgusting. Anyone who aborts a baby, before or after should be tried for murder. There is absolutely no justification for it. Women of long ago didn't abort their children. They knew the potential of death could come from it and had children anyway. Some died, some lived. They had no idea if the child would be born with a disease, a mental illness or handicap. They still had the child. There are even more options now. Have a child that you can't (or don't want to) take care of? Adoption is the answer every time. There are plenty of loving people out there who will care for that child, regardless of the child's condition.Abortion is murder. It is selfish and wrong. We have no morals, we are raising a generation without God and it is showing.
That's like Pepsi or Coke… it's all in who you ask and tastes. What I always wondered is what would have happened had their roles been reversed? Lee commanding the Union forces and Grant the southern? Would the outcome have been the same?
