Here is an update on what TGHAR has found. They now claim to have discovered what might be clumps of human feces. DNA testing is inconclusive though. Human DNA was discovered but not enough for an identification. Amelia Earhart Clue Found in Clumps
I guess if naysayers are wrong and it is indeed her they can no longer say it's a load of crap. 😀
Now THAT will a day when the very last one is gone… Sort of like when Albert Woolson died in 1956 as the last verifiable veterna of the Civil War… Something about knowing that a person is alive and is a link to a period or event is, I don't know, comforting? When Mr Woolson died an age passed. When the last WWI veteran passed, regardless of what country they are from, another age will pass...
Very interesting article… I agree, the last bit where Ferguson said, “Worst of all, out of that war could emerge an enemy as formidable as Napoleon?s France, Stalin?s Soviet Union, or Mao?s China” is real, tangible and something that I really think our current administration has absolutely no understanding of.
This sort of puts it into perspective. These are the preseidents who served their terms in Mr Buckles lifetime:Theodore RooseveltWilliam Howard TaftWoodrow WilsonWarren Gamaliel HardingCalvin CoolidgeHerbert Clark HooverFranklin Delano RooseveltHarry S. TrumanDwight David EisenhowerJohn Fitzgerald KennedyLyndon Baines JohnsonRichard Milhous NixonGerald Rudolph FordJames Earl Carter, Jr.Ronald Wilson ReaganGeorge Herbert Walker BushWilliam Jefferson ClintonGeorge Walker BushBarack Hussein ObamaThat is every single President of the 20th and 21st centrury! The first President born after Mr Buckles was Kennedy, and he outlived all them except the bolded ones.RIP Mr Buckles and thank you for your service!
With SMF, upgrading and installing mods has been a relatively streamlined task.
Then PunBB is out... it is a "hands-on" forum package. It's for the admin who wants total control over the board including the actual code. Based on CSS and requires understanding of both XHTML and CSS. THere are a few "plug-ins" but all in all it's a programmers software. That is why I only reccommend it if the person has significant time to invest in configuration and modifications.Honestly, I'd say stay with SMF... it's a great package.
I used to use PunBB (and still love it) for it's small size and sheer simplicity. It is the “Gentoo Linux” of forum software. Meaning, you get a base install and then you configure it how you want afterwards. However, that takes time and from what I am reading you need something that has the work done for you mostly.I think SMF is ending up a LOT like phpBB, which for quite a while reigned supreme (it was the free alternative to running a vBulletin forum - I still have my vB license but have no idea what version they are into now). For now I'd say stick with SMF... I suspect that even like vB if things slow down it won't disappear completely.
I agree completely… BUT… playing devils advocate, regardless of whether the students are indeed lazy whiners, doesn't the teacher, even in a personal blog, have the responsibility to “watch” what she is saying? Similar to business people who blog… they could say a LOT of things, but something harmless in general could turn around and bite them, so when putting something out they need to be extra cautious. Maybe this applies to the teacher here as well?Just saying...
I would guess that Lee would have gotten owned by the Army of the West because it was so much more versatile an instrument than the Army of the Potomac.
Yes.Scout...let's change the hypothetical for a moment. What would have happened if Lee were against Army of the West commanded by Sherman?
I personally do not think you would get the same outcome. Grant was a fighter and I won't say he didn't care about losing men, but he went in with guns blazing, that was his forte. Sherman on the other hand preferred the "total war" tactics to head on combat... to save soldiers lives on both sides.Grant was the right man for the right time. They needed a no-nonsense, forget the game playing, and accept nothing but surrender attitude that Grant had.I personally feel that overall Sherman was the better general of the two, but again, not for that particular point in time. Grant was the man and it showed.
We got about 8″ in south-central Missouri along the I-44 corridor. Just north of us they got closer to 18″We got about 3-4" of ice/sleet and then that got covered with snow. Then it snowed another 2-3" on Friday. They are talking another storm is on it's way tonight or tomorrow. Great.. just got everything cleared off...
LOL… could have turned out the other way… had Jackon got a hold of this guy I am certain he would have killed him… Kind of ironic the killer getting killed by the.. uhm… killee? 😀
