RIP. I think his reactions to the part the ak-47 has played in countless deaths is an interesting one. I imagine that the ak has killed more people in the twentieth century than any other weapon, right?
I say if a pop version is an original song, it's permissible (though not necessarily good). Song like that Mariah Carey song annoy me, but that Wham! song has now become a modern classic.
That story is barren of some important facts – such as why the last occupants left! Also, the pictures make it seem as if it might have been abandoned almost a century ago, until the picture of the plastic toy phone! The article goes on to say that it was abandoned in the 1990s.
Very interesting stuff. I'd like to see someone uncover Aristotle's Comedy. I wonder if the hesitancy of the Italian government is because the Italians don't like foreigners coming in and calling all the shots.I also liked this:
In the meantime Fowler tries to keep up the pressure. He reckons that we have perhaps 10% of the great works of classical literature, so any chance to recover the rest is precious.
That's interesting.I find it interesting when I see historical portrayals on TV or movies and certain figures are supposed to be "enlightened" (which inevitably means having modern-day liberal-like attitudes toward things). Curiously, we don't really see other, negative historical attitudes exhibited by those Hollywood heroes which they had. I would be surprised if Scopes were depicted in present-day movies with a racist attitude.
That's a good idea. Perhaps I should have looked into one of those services sooner, seeing how there are UPS and Fedex locations just as close as the post office. I guess I just usually default to the USPS.
Perhaps there is something to be said for female world leaders. It may be that they have to overcompensate for the perception that they are weak or unwilling to act. (Note: this is not an implicit endorsement of Hillary). 🙂
I brought a package there twice and left twice with my answer not cleared up. Apparently, you cannot send perfumes with alcohol through the mail, unless it goes via ground shipment – and even then, if you send multiple bottles, you have to ship them separately. We made the mistake of getting a few small bottles (e.g. 3 oz. or less) of perfume and hand sanitizer that couldn't be shipped the normal way (gift for my niece). Finally, I went back to the post office the third time and had to open the package to ask about whether I could send the items. I could only send one perfume in the box. The others I will probably have to bring on the plane when we fly up.
