I would have preferred the New England colonies. Better climate overall, despite some colder weather. Back in the day it would have been weather that was more conducive to living in as it would have been familiar to the English, and given Puritan-era dress codes it would have been more bearable. On the downside, agriculture would have been more difficult to be successful at and profitable crops from a European trade standpoint would likely have come more from the South.
I guess I'm a little behind the times then…! In the first episode I saw – the pilot episode – they were searching for the Spear of Destiny. In another episode they were looking for King Solomon's Mines. I think it's a cross between Indiana Jones and MacGyver, but without the novel inventions in each episode.
If you had enough you could set up your own museum and charge admission. 🙂 Actually there's another site I found with some rare newspapers, and some cost as little as around $20. I think I might buy some from the site.http://www.rarenewspapers.com/
I'm just saying that exposing their actions in the media can be a way to bring unwanted focus on their actions. Then, alumni (who I imagine become more conservative as they get older) will stand less for it and can put the heat on the university to investigate their actions. They recently had a Hannity and Colms special on "Nutty Professors" which was dedicated to past shows they've done on college profs and high school teachers who teach their own agendas....quite radical at times. Does it do anything directly to stop the teachers? No, but it can do things indirectly. I'm not saying that Donnie necessarily should have done this; rather, it's one way of dealing with the situation when it becomes an extreme.
Yo I recognize that man….it's Slim Shady….No actually looks like WWII...lower rank...Silver Star winner? Does not look like Audie MurphyAudie Murphy[/wiki]...could possibly be Alexander HaigAlexander Haig[/wiki]....Could be a Medal of Honor winner instead. Tell us...is he on this list here?
Ahem, of course….”Tetrach” was an early Latin derivative which eventually morphed into “Tetrarch” later on through Goth and Vandal misunderstandings…..I was just taking the purer form of the words (yeah! 🙂 ).
I suggest when professors teach a radical agenda and you can do nothing about it via the normal university ways that you use the media to expose such deeds. This may be the only way to bring needed pressure onto them.
I suppose that depends….is it a spin I like or dislike? 🙂 I do think that it's a shame when teachers have an agenda at a public school and so attempt to promote that agenda with the support of history. There are plenty of areas of history that don't need any psychoanalyzing to assign blame or link it to today's world. And we don't really need modern-day academics to be the judge of mankind in the past. Too often we hear modern day types judging groups in the past….curiously enough they seem to blame a particular group or side if it has continuing influence in today's world. It's so easy to assign blame to historical peoples or eras while sitting in your leather armchair drinking your coffee in 2006.
No, all three “episodes” are in the same movie. It's one story with three parts.Another movie coming out I think called "The Good Shepherd"; about the origins/growth of the CIA. Starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie. Looks fairly interesting.
Donnie, the Senate Chamber name isn't a bad idea. I'll put it under consideration (the “Baths” was the first thing that really came to mind to represent the exclusive VIP idea). And perhaps with the ranks I can have a legend somewhere so people know what they are easily enough. For example, I don't know how many people know which is higher – the rank of optio or signifier. I tweaked this board a bit so that guests and Auxiliaries can see that this board exists but not access it. This wasn't possible via the standard SMF setup but I was able to find the tweak mentioned by someone on the SMF forum. Also, perhaps I should change the description of this board to de-emphasize the open discussion nature. While off topic stuff is fine, I think the idea was to have a place where things can go that weren't really best in the Announcements area. The post about the Trojan Horse was attracting too many people searching for "c:u.exe" and so sort of as a security precaution I wanted to hide that from the search engines. Further, if we need to discuss marketing this forum or whatnot, this is the best place to do it. Of course, I don't want this area to take away from specific historical discussions that can populate other areas. I agree that Mr. Stumpfoot could be the board moderator (not that he'd have very much to do with these new responsibilities anytime in the near future....well at least until we surpass the 1000 member mark 🙂 ). By the way, keep the ideas coming in, as I appreciate the input.
