KeymasterIf it's Islamic in nature it's both because Islam can't separate the two.My guess is he was influenced by his older brother who seems quite the jihadist according to his personal online records.
I wasn't sure if it was part of jihad, or if it was in some way meant to drag the U.S. into some Chechnyan political issues. I just read that the older brother went to Russia within the last year or so, and he may have been there a while. Also, I saw that he was married and I believe they lived somewhere in Rhode Island.

KeymasterQuestion now becomes – was it a religiously-motivated attack, or a politically-motivated one? Incidentally, I read through many of the 19-year-old's tweets over the past year or so, and he seemed pretty much like your typical American teenager; crass humor, disliking college food, not much about Islam, not much political stuff. I am not sure how he got involved but did not seem like the type who would orchestrate this on his own initiative.

KeymasterHe was. He's the older brother of the one who has escaped. A "very religious" follower if Islam.http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/breakingnews/ci_23061347/dead-bombing-suspect-boxed-lowell-golden-gloves#ixzz2Quw5oAcJhttp://www.boston.com/sports/2013/04/19/photo-gallery-details-boxing-interests-tamerlan-tsarnaev-suspect-boston-marathon-bombing/Qil39GhtyWEZm7nOfjJ5JK/story.htmlThat fact that this 19 year has eluded police, FBI, and everyone else for over 12 hours now tells me that someone is helping him. There are more than 2 people involved in this.
This story said that wasn't one of the suspects:
WBZ-TV released video of a man laid out on a street in Watertown overnight, with his arms spread out over his head on the ground as police surrounded him.The man was then apparently ordered to remove his clothes or had his clothes removed before he was handcuffed and put in the back of a police cruiser.Watch the video:There’s no official word yet on who this man is or why he was taken into custody. It was later revealed that the man is not believed to be involved in the incidents.

KeymasterThey say they know one of the suspect's Twitter accounts. Here are some interesting tweets I've found of his:[html]

KeymasterThat guy on the ground looked very much alive, and from what I could see (granted the cameras were at a distance) did not look to be wounded (at least, not severely). I heard reports that maybe he was run over by his brother, or that he may blown himself up. Yet, that did not look like the man on the ground. Unless I am missing something.

KeymasterSo who was the guy who was face down on the pavement last night, surrounded by cops? They kept making it sound like that was one of the suspects. Also, did anyone else watch the FBI press conference yesterday? When he took questions, some "reporter" asked a question that the FBI agent ignored. After it ended, I think it was that same "reporter" that started making a spiel as the cameras gathered around him. Eventually, he got into a small yelling match with someone else in the room. Who the heck was that guy, and what was he saying?

KeymasterI am surprised in our day and age that the school let the teacher do this. You know, with the handling of guns (even props), the dressing up in Confederate uniforms, fake bloody wounds – I would think this would be too politically incorrect for a school to allow. Makes me think that after watching the piece, some administrator somewhere is making calls or filing reports to try to get it stopped.

KeymasterLast night I was following Twitter and the reports were that the suspects were Sunil Tripathi and someone named Mike Mulugeta. Totally different story today.

KeymasterWhoa! Looks like you may be right after all!

KeymasterLooks like they have at least one of them in custody now.

KeymasterThe ongoing investigation is quite interesting. I am waiting any moment for the two guys to be ID'd and caught. Part of the interesting thing is the level of internet “sleuthing” going on, and the negative reaction to it by some people (e.g. the media). I personally don't have any problem with people going on Reddit combing through photos and giving their opinions, even if they turn out to be incorrect. I find it curious that some in the media react so negatively to this kind of thing.Crowdsourcing or Witch Hunt? Internet Buzz On Bombing Suspect

KeymasterWell then his hair must have grown excessively fast since he seems to have shorter hair in the photos I saw of the Brown student. I also don't think the face looks the same.

KeymasterI must say this involves an interesting issue in regard to history. Rep. McDaniel said that the law was intended to prevent one generation from changing what was deemed important by an earlier generation. What this effectively prevents is any generation/era from claiming a virtual monopoly on what is morally good or bad. As we all know, cultural values can change over time, and I think many people think this change occurs for the worse. Those values become engrained in society and people in power have the potential to rewrite history so that it supports their modern views. The Tennessee law is one way of preventing this from happening, or at least to occur less easily.
