I hope WCF gets back to its former glory.

I take it there is no way to only see what has been posted since the last visit?  I am still sad, but I will deal with it.

Failing a “see unread” option is it possible that topics get sorted in date order in the forum view?  That would alleviate having to wade through dozens of pages.

I don’t believe there have been any new cases in the US since that Dr. in New York.  The outbreak has not stopped in AFrica, it has just slowed down.  The CDC Ebola tracking page is pretty interesting.  http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/outbreaks/2014-west-africa/index.html

Since Americans and Europeans are not dying then EBola is no longer news.  Much like Ukraine is essentially ignored in the US media but the fighting there has not stopped.  I am paying particular attention to Ukraine as that fighting is less than a days drive from where I live.

That is because the epidemic in West Africa is starting to burn itself out.  All the too late too ineffective measures taken when the West started thinking it was going to spread are taking hold and the epidemic will probably be over by the summer with a death toll of 25-35 thousand.

The old SMF forum had the option of clicking on “see unread topics” so you could see all the posts made since the last visit.

We can’t see unread topics anymore.  That makes me sad. 🙁

Now that is a neat project.  I withhold total judgement until I watch the way he presents the history.  Politics has infected everything, which I find totally sad.

Turkey has not been a moderate Islamic country since Erdogan's Islamist party came to power over a decade ago.  They have been busy purging the military and judiciary of secularists ever since.  You did not think it was realism keeping Turkey from becoming involved in Syria did you?  It is not, it is because at heart Erdogan, ISIS, and Al Qaeda all share the same ultimate goal, the creation of a worldwide Caliphate.

Ironically enough, one of the guys I went to high school with has been throwing out images of the V mask the last week or so saying “remember, remember”.  I finally challenged him if he knew the origins of the rhyme today but have not gotten a response yet.

Ironically, since the OT was the Occupy folks.  Anybody know where they all went?  My guess is they are all campaigning for legal weed now.

There is the doctor in NYC who was diagnosed Thursday.  This thing is far from over.

, I will sometimes assume they know the meanings of words that I think they would know, only to find out they do not.

I run into this all the time.  It actually amazes me how rudimentary most peoples vocabulary is these days.  One would think that with the internet and the huge amont of information available that people have to read to grasp that the average vocabulary would be lager.  I find that talking to most people under the age of 25 or so is like a constant game of “Stump the Chump” because I never know which word I use is going to elicit the deer in the headlights look from them.deer-in-headlights.jpg

That sounds very much like a book I recently saw that purported to be a manual for a Roman Legionnaire.  A good tongue in cheek way to introduce people to history by entertaining them and not letting them know they are learning something.

You had never heard that phrase before?  I am shocked, but then maybe I just know it because my mother is English.

I think that is the guy.I have that site for about 6 month's, it is the tie-in to my book.  I have not been very good about updating lately though.  I am doing another MA with my GI Bill right now and hardly paying attention to the news.
