I have decided that like a boil on my behind this Pope is a flaw that must be tolerated. I do not have to like him but I won't let him drive me from the church. His time too will pass. The question is how much damage he will do before he leaves. The NYT also has a piece that vaguely condemns Catholics like me that think the Pope is at best a poor messenger and at worst a destructive element within the church.BTW, did anybody see the story Drudge linked to about Atheist mega-churches?
I don't see the point of their posts though. They post out of context quotes from elsewhere on WCF and have nothing outwardly suspicious in their profile. Most don't even have website links in their profile as you would expect from link farmers.I would guess idiots with nothing better to do.
Given modern sensibilities and attitudes they will not. The dead are only sacrosanct so long as someone with a connection to the dead is around to prevent desecration of their remains.
What an odd post. It is also a plagiarization from one of my old posts. I am guessing we have one of those strange quote spammers we have been seeing recently. He bears watching.
The liberty bond poster with the little girl is from WWII.The "drive" to save Belgium was everywhere in the British Empire as the violation of Belgian neutrality was Britain's reason for entering the war.
It will probably be a Chinese company. A Chinese company got the beret contract to begin with and would have kept it if a conservative group had not raised a stink about it. The berets were eventually sourced from a French Canadian company if I remember right.
Liberals have been doubling down on failed projects or decades, schools, welfare, medicaid, and “green” energy come to mind. Why would we expect anything different with health care? What gets me is how the media lets them get away with blaming Republicans for the failure of their signature programs. Avoiding responsibility is part and parcel of the liberal playbook. They are like three year olds in that regard, they can be reliably expected to claim “it wasn't me” every time.
I notice the blame Republican game has started already. I have found out that my retiree health insurance meets requirements.I am currently sitting back and laughing while I watch the ACA fall apart under it's own weight of contradictions. I suspect that shortly the calls for "fixing" it by instituting single-payer will get more strident. I also suspect that the smoke and mirrors from the admin and progressives will get thicker as they try to distract the sheeple from what a disaster "their" law is. The Democrats own this one as it was passed with only Democrat votes.
You should worry now because all the policies being put into effect right now will have serious negative effects on combat power in the coming years. Blue Berets don't matter if we have a military incapable of winning on the battlefield.Hats are symptoms of the disease but the disease itself is the slow invasion of progressives equality of result instead of mission based priorities.
It is the same thing. The logic behind going to the black beret in the Army was that it would make us look like an elite force. Because you know, Spec-ops, Airborne, and Rangers wear berets. We went to the Black beret, which is what the Rangers used to wear and the rangers had to go with Tan. I remember seeing a group picture in Army Times at the time of a guy part of the multinational HQ in Sarajevo before the beret. The American was the only guy not wearing a beret. There is also the fact that it is easy to look like a fool in a beret if you do not wear it right and many don't and still do not. Two years ago they re-introduced the Patrol Cap and now it is only for wear in the DRess Uniform. If you want to see real funny watch a girl with hair wear a beret. Incidentally, I very rarely wore my beret, I wore a PC and took the ass chewings because I had enough on my collar that they could not bust me or do anything too serious for not wearing it.As i understand it Obama is not involved with the decision process at all. It is an internal Marine initiative. It will be interesting to watch them ram this down Marine's throats. It could become a retention issue if they are not careful.
It aint Obama doing it, it is the neutered thing that passes for leadership in the modern military. The Marines are just the last to succumb. I still remember having to give up my nice, comfortable, and useful soft-cap for a worthless beret in 2000. Don't think for a minute that PC has not crept into the military. I would even go so far as to say that the military in the US is at the forefront of implementing all the PC and progressive social engineering garbage hat comes down the pike.I retired just in time!!!
I saw an interesting piece in Time today that has a bearing on this discussion. I’m Still Not Going Back to the Catholic ChurchI still cannot make up my mind completely but the more I think and pray about this the more I am starting to think like the author of this piece. I don't want to go there bu I may find myself doing it anyway. What I am seeing is a Pope who engages in freeform rationalization and while not discarding doctrine seems fairly adept at ignoring it from my perspective.
I have spent a total of 14 years in Europe now. Don't get me wrong, there is much to like about Europe, but universal health care, cheese, public transport, song contests, soccer, and the metric system are none of the things I like. I do like the vacation time my wife gets. Of course, I don't get that much vacation nor do I work the 60-70 hour weeks she does either. I like being close to many of the places I want to see. This is mostly places Europeans busily killed each other through most of their history.I hate the climate, it is never really hot enough to suit me. I hate that it is crowded, I do not understand the European preference for living in each other's laps. I hate that the only really wild places are in the Alps in very forbidding terrain. I dislike the punishing taxes people who work have to pay. The VAT, need I say more? I hate the two class system, either you work or you suck the lifeblood of those who do. TV taxes, they are 180 euro a years in Germany.Generally I think the parliamentary system is anti- or at best faux-democratic because it just makes people fell like they have a voice they do not really have. All that being said, Europe is not a bad place, it just aint America and I don;t think America should become like Europe. Europe has just as many problems as America, just in different areas.
