They were stupid enough to let the media sway them.

A significantly weakened America would more likely lead to a world war. We have already, or are pretty close, to destroying ourselves from within. That's my reasoning for saying this rather than Civil war.

Odds favor another world war first. It's not Obama, it's that one man Harry Reid who is destroying the country.

Well I don't consider super heroes as science fiction.  My criteria for science fiction is:1. has to take place in the future or distant past2. has to have a more advanced technological society or focus on technology3. has to have a theme dealing with man's struggle for survival4. has a theme dealing with how man is evolving or will evolve when he encountersnew alien racesStuff like that. 🙂

So The Walking Dead would fit!

They had the best maps too.

Yes.  The moon one is cool and so are the ones showing ocean topography.

#2 Europe has more varieties of cheese, and some very good but they don't have Vermont or Wisconsin cheddar which is the best!#3 – Yes, our public transportation is awful unless it's a big city…and the center of it.  Not only do you have to wait hours for your transfer, you also have to walk pretty far for some routes.#6 Football/Soccer. OK, so UEFA gets more viewers.  Considering how many teams and countries involved that's still a low number compared to the Superbowl which is just two teams, one country.

I'm just sick of reading anything about it other than good scientific papers. By good I mean not using overly emphatic words or dire warnings of doom.I think #1 is true. The avg temp has raised but not nearly as much as predicted in the first couple of IPCC reports.  The earth has always had temperature changes, but science seems to confirm a higher amount of CO2 in the atmosphere which is caused by man and that's new. Is that bad? Yes. But whether or not it's as bad as they say is the key question.  Since the ocean has a lot to do with climate, I strongly believe mankind has affected that with not only CO2, but all kinds of pollutants.  There are some areas of the ocean with higher concentrations of CO2 and acidification which has affected some marine life. They are definitely studying it more than ever and with more advanced methods.  Scientists may be making “new” findings but that doesn't mean it's never occured before.
