ParticipantHey that show was on tonight, But for the life of me I cant remember the name, sorry. But they had some history on it and showed the guy who 'invented' the speakeasy, I was heading out the door when it was on, I need to check and see if it's coming on again anytime soon.

ParticipantI am trying to put myself in the place of the slave who ran and made it to the north, a place he was told he would be free, just to be turned over and sent back to hell.

ParticipantIt really makes you respect those who were willing to suffer any hardship to see what was around the next bend.

ParticipantI think your right about having a hard time figuring out what it would be like. It's so much a part of who we are, almost genetic. But looking at our neighbors to the north and Ireland, it's hard to say. I'd go with Ireland though. Americans are rebellous by nature and unfortunatly I think many of our big cities would be dangerous to walk like Belfast or even to a lesser extent Dublin once was. I hate the thought of that.

ParticipantI think I heard something about this a long time ago. ?I have not seen anything on it though. ?I am sure Hitler took ?time to write down some of his thoughts. ?He was a methodical thinker, but erratic. ?Hitler has been condemned by many as being an intellectual lightweight. ?I won't put him on the scale of a Hegal, Nietzsche, Marx, or Schweitzer (some German notables). ?But he was meticulously visionary in what he hoped to accomplish....a genius in its own right. ?
Of course I am a Christian, and I think the Devil played a role in his ascendancy too.
?The only thing that prevented Hitler's success was his impatience and his insistence to micromanage the war rather than adhering to the advice of his generals.....notably Rommel. ?After the July Plot (Operation Valkyrie), Hitler's paranoia climaxed to such a degree that he could not trust anyone near him, thus reinforcing his already present need to control details all the more. ?As a side note, Hitler respected England, France, and America because he viewed them as descendants of the Anglo/Germanic peoples (Teutons). Maybe God played a role in his descendency as well. By the way If some one could help me figure out how to quote just a portion of someones post that would be great.

ParticipantCharisma. Some people have a charismatic personality that draws people to them. You see it all the time. Some of us stand on the outside looking in thinking what's going on? Why would they follow Hitler? Stalin? Gangus kahn? Or in more modern times, Jim Jones? It happens and when it's all said and done we are wondering how it could have.

ParticipantI'ts such an injustice to history to write off anyone or anything Because “Professer so and so' doesnt agree with it. State the facts and let the reader decide what he or she wants to think about it.

ParticipantI would hope that nothing like that would ever happen. I believe in the freedom of expression in art, And something like that could to easily be controlled and manipulated.

ParticipantI watched a show about the spear a couple months ago and a lab was allowed to test it for age, dna and all matter of other things, and I think it was dated around 800-900 AD.

ParticipantI believe it was really a social thing. The Sioux for example would have factions break off and go their own way, and really it was expected. Sometimes nescessary because the area they lived in could not support a large number of people (As they were not farmers) So some would break off and move on to an area they could hunt and gather on to support their families.

ParticipantCan you imagine what could be found if they were allowed to really dig in places like Rome, athens and Jerusalem? I can't.

ParticipantSome believe that the 'mythical gods of the greeks' has it's begining with the Nephilim, those born to the angels who took up the flesh when they desended from heaven in Noah's day. In Genesis they are refered to as the 'mighty ones who were of old, the men of fame.'
