ParticipantYea , I do lean towrds American history in General. As to your question I read both pretty regularly. Right now I am doing a lot of research on the irish potato famine (Paddys lament is really good) and the subsequent irish immegration particularly to NY and the five points area.

ParticipantCan't the desire for power be a form of greed? When you see a man who truly wants to help someone, is he desirous of power? No. He is desirous of lifting his fellow man up into a better position in life. And Hitler and Napoleon? Ask yourself why they wanted that power. It wasnt for the good of men, it was for the good of Hitler and Napoleon. I am always suspicious of someone who wants power over his fellow man.It doesnt always have to be about the tangible things.

ParticipantPatience! They will come! Besides it sounds as though those people are long gone and any offer would have been stuck eternally in cyberspace.

ParticipantIt's probably the most accurate, certainly more so then Burt Lancasters and Kirk Doulgas's version (though it's still an awsome movie).

ParticipantOh yea, and lets make a movie about custer that is actually accurate, one that doesnt deify him or make him out to be the devil himself. But I guess hollywood cant make a movie with out putting thier own spin on things.

ParticipantI think he is in the guinness book of records. He was a confederate. I believe he was 13 at the time he fought. And I might be wrong I havent read the entry in a while but I think he died in 63. If I am remembering right then he may have seen lincoln and kennedys assassanation. But check the book I am not sure about those dates.

ParticipantI've read the book. It's all fiction. There was no priory of Sion. And there is no list of Caretakers of the secret of the holy grail (Of which Davinci was supposed to have been on). Anyway I thought it was good fiction, but just that.

ParticipantOle' Ben was a lecherus old man (I do mean that in a nice way.) But a good bio to pick up on him is Walter Isaacson's 'Benjamin Franklin'. I was pretty good.
