ParticipantThat really was my point in the other thread where this onversation first came up. If not Hitler I think someone else would have done the same thing and played on the Germans frustrations and humiliation to get them to rise up again. Though had it not been Hitler I wonder how much of the 'world domination' mindset would have been in play.

ParticipantI dont think someone has to have an interest in history to appriciate humankind and the world around us. I just think there is more to life then what Brangalina is up to these days. 😀

ParticipantHalf of all accidents are caused by drunk drivers. I dont think prohibition curbed alcoholisim at all and families are still being torn apart by alcohol. But is it the alcohols fault or the alcoholic? Alcohol is an inaniment object, a tool, a thing. We ourselves must be responsible as to how it is used. And yes we have become more sensitive to certain crimes, but they are still a major problem. We as humans can make anything we want a dangerous thing, so whats the answer prohibit cars? Puppies? (ok I'm not sure how they could be made to be dangerous. :-D) Anyway I dont think the 18th was good for the country. We all know the otherside of that coin and the problems that were caused by prohibition.

ParticipantI but his activism is credited for galvanizing the Revolutionary spirit. Â
Thats kind of why I included him, Common Sense was quite a spark. I personally woul d never vote for him and I dont think anyone else will either but his influence on the others of his time I thought earned him an honerable mention.

ParticipantAgreed. So really comparing alcohol to illeagal drugs is ridiculous, thats why I think that Prohibition was unnecessary. Again in the end we have to be responsible for our own behavior.

ParticipantWould they have fallen to that enemy when they were at their peak?

ParticipantWell this thread got totally hijacked 😀 So I am going to hijack it again, I was listening to the radio today and they mentioned that there were 4 states that were commonwealths: Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Kentucky. So Since you Donnie are from Kentucky I thought i would ask what a commonwealth was and why these states chose to refer to themselves as such.

ParticipantThen what is the myth of the dark ages?

ParticipantIf they were inside the U.S. I could see them pressing charges for buying stolen goods if they wanted to push the issue, it is up to the buyer to make sure the property is legit.

ParticipantAlcohol in moderation is not a bad thing and some of it has even been shown to have health benefits (red wine) but I cant see things like Cocaine and Meth having any kind of health benefits just because of the addictive nature.
