ParticipantIt still shocks me that this goes on. I mean don't these people who do this understand that all they do is irritate people and make them mad? Who goes to a history site to find Porn? American history forums has been overrun. I went to a civilwarforum the other day. It was a small one but it had been blasted with porn spammers. it said they had one hundred members and about four posts, I found one post relating to the civil war all the rest was spam. I just don't get these people.

ParticipantTrue. And I have to say his presidency was never one I was much interested in. I thnk he got sandwiched between two chapters in history hat shuffled him to almost a footnote.

ParticipantIt was a surprise to me as well. In one of Cusslers books ( I will have to check to which one) he talks about such subs and there intent to attack the west coast.

ParticipantI had no idea That Martin Luther was so anti-Semitic. I think though that even if some had converted they would have 'enjoyed' second class citizenship at best.

ParticipantMartin Scorsese (not sure if I spelled it right) newest is an adaptation of a historical novel called, ?The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal and Trial by Combat in Medieval France?. Written by Eric Jager, the book is about a duel between two knights in 1386. Jean de Carrouges and Jacques LeGris battled in the last fight ever sanctioned by the French government. The book tells their story while explaining the culture and ideas behind what they were doing. The story told is based on a real event, but the author acknowledges that all the details of the duel aren?t known and so he fills in the gaps.
